Freego Electric Vehicle Usage and Liability Disclaimer

1. Product Classification and Regulatory Compliance

1.1 E-Bike Series

Freego's e-bike models are categorized under electric bicycle classifications. In the United States, e-bikes are officially divided into three classes—Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3—each with distinct regulations on speed limits, motor power, and operational features.

All Freego e-bikes are factory-configured to comply with Class 2 standards, which include a maximum speed of 20 mph and a motor power limit of 750 watts. Please note that Class 3 regulations vary significantly by state. While some states permit the use of Class 3 e-bikes, others have strict restrictions.

User Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Adherence: Thoroughly research and comply with all local, state, and federal laws governing e-bike operation, including speed limits, usage areas, and licensing requirements.
  • Safety Equipment: Wear appropriate safety gear, such as helmets, protective clothing, and eye protection, as required by local regulations.
  • Product Modifications: Do not alter or modify the original product settings, components, or software. Unauthorized modifications may void warranties, compromise safety, and result in regulatory violations.

1.2 Dirt Bike Series

Freego offers two dirt bike series: Freego X-Man and Freego Nova.

Freego Nova Series
These are high-performance, off-road electric motorcycles. With speeds exceeding 28 mph and no pedal-assist feature, they are legally classified as motor vehicles. They are prohibited from use on public roads and are only permitted on private property (with explicit permission), designated off-road trails, or other non-public areas. These restrictions are intended to protect public safety and prevent accidents.

Freego X-Man Series
The X-Man series features a dual-mode system:

  • City Mode: In this mode, speed is electronically limited to 28 mph, and motor power is software-restricted to 750 watts, aligning with Class 3 e-bike standards. These settings may permit legal use on public roads, depending on local regulations.
  • Off-Road Mode: Designed solely for off-road use, this mode unlocks full performance but does not comply with public road regulations. Riders are responsible for selecting the appropriate mode based on their riding environment.

2. Safety Warnings

2.1 General Riding Risks

Regardless of the model or mode, all vehicles involve risk. Even bicycles can cause serious injury when operated recklessly. Freego users are responsible for riding safely at all times—maintaining reasonable speeds, obeying traffic rules, and staying alert. Failure to do so can result in falls, collisions, or fatalities.

2.2 Battery-Related Risks

Freego products are equipped with UL-certified lithium-ion batteries that have passed rigorous safety tests. However, lithium-ion batteries carry a small risk of overheating, fire, or explosion under certain conditions (e.g., physical damage, improper charging, or exposure to extreme heat).

To minimize risk:

  • Use only Freego-provided or manufacturer-recommended chargers.
  • Avoid charging in poorly ventilated areas or near flammable materials.
  • Regularly inspect batteries and cables for damage.
  • Stop using the battery if you notice swelling, excessive heat, or unusual smells, and contact Freego support immediately.

3. Liability Waiver

By purchasing and using Freego products, you acknowledge and accept all associated risks. Freego and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any injuries, damages, or losses (including personal injury, property damage, or death) arising from the use, misuse, or malfunction of its products. This includes, but is not limited to, consequences of product modifications, failure to follow safety instructions, or violations of local regulations.

4. Insurance Recommendation

We strongly recommend that all Freego riders obtain comprehensive personal accident and property liability insurance. This coverage offers financial protection in the event of an accident, injury, or loss, and provides peace of mind.
