I started riding about 2 years ago and ride about 120 miles a month. On solo rides, I used to find myself relying solely on my hearing for things happening behind me.. not always possible to glance back. Unprotected left turns is when I always realize I should have looked. On rides with kids, I am extra alert because they don't stay in the bike lane.. I'm always looking over my shoulder. I first mounted this mirror so it was above my handlebar.. it was fine but for whatever reason, glancing at it wasn't comfortable. I then changed the mounting so the mirror would be below my handlebar. This is an awesome position for me - looking at the mirror comes easier for me with the way I move. The mirror itself is very good quality - the reflective surface is great, visibility is excellent and it doesn't come loose. I do maintain my bike well - as part of this, I tighten the mounting screw and the mirror swivel screw monthly. Overall, I would highly recommend this. I feel a lot more comfortable riding with this.. especially when riding with kids.
This helped me so much getting the mirror. I feel a lot safer riding now being able to see traffic in the mirror since I live in an area with no bike lanes. I know a few people in the reviews said to buy the opposite side to install upside down but you don__ need to! Left side installed on the left side is what you__l see in my pictures and it works fine! Installing it below the handle, as opposed to above, gives me a clearer view without my shoulder obstructing my view.
I don't know how people ride bikes without mirrors; being able to easily look out for cars behind me while riding gives me such peace of mind. This one offers a good field of view without being too large and obtrusive. My commute to work is on a bumpy gravel road and I've only had to re-tighten the mirror once so far in the month since I got it. A couple of reviews have mentioned buying the opposite side mirror if you plan on mounting it underneath the handlebars, but I've not run into any issues using the correct side mounted underneath.
I would like to thank the Aussie who suggested mounting the right mirror on the left handlebar upside down so that your shoulder doesn't block your view. Don't worry. Objects in the mirror do not appear upside down.
Excellent bike mirror. Sleek and unobtrusive. I have fairly wide flat bars and mounted them flush with the grips. Perfect view. I have the non-glare version. It look quite good on my All City Macho Flat Bar. You need a 5mm Allen wrench to install.
